Introducing the Eglinton Scottish Highland Officer Broadsword, an excellent weapon that transports you to the age of bayonets and muskets.
Inspired by the Highland Swords of Scotland
Forged as one piece from C60 high-carbon steel, this basket hilt broadsword is inspired by the one in the “Pinch of Snuff” painting by William Delacour. Carbon steel is renowned for its strength and durability. Dating back to around 1750, the painting depicts an officer of the 78th “Fraser’s Regiment” relaxing by taking out a “pinch of snuff,” or tobacco.
The unsharpened, double-edged blade has two fullers and a distal taper. The distal taper means the blade gradually gets thinner from the base down to the tip for a more favorable balance. The broad fuller in the middle funs down the length of the blade. Meanwhile, the narrower fuller only runs down the spine and ends at the start of the foible.
Moving down to the hilt, your one-handed grip is secure and protected with a magnificent steel basket guard. This basket hilt protects the handle on three sides and is designed with elegant flourishes. The wooden handle, wrapped in black leather and steel braided wire, secures your grip. At the bottom, the steel acorn pommel ends in a round finial.
This Scottish Backsword comes with a wooden scabbard wrapped in black leather. The topmount and the chape of the scabbard are steel. The topmount, also known as the throat or the socket, has a steel suspension hook for hanging. At the bottom, the chape is notched for added detail and it ensures the tip of the blade doesn’t poke through when sheathed.
Favored by the Officers of Royal Britain
True to its inspiration, this Highlander broadsword is an excellent choice for reenactors embodying roles of British Highland regiment officers from the 18th Century. This Eglinton broadsword is an iconic blade for your collection of reenactment weaponry, too. Carry it with you as a part of your Royal British reenactment uniform or as a Scottish freedom fighter. The masterfully crafted basket hilt adds elegance and flair to your kit while the scabbard ensures you’ll have a safe place to sheathe it when the fighting is done.

With its secure grip, elegant fittings, and sophisticated presence, this Scottish basket hilt sword is a must-have.
