Available in two sizes, the light brown gambeson uses ties and leather loops to close the jacket. Also, it uses ties to close the cuffs. Made of three layers, suede forms the outermost layer. The interior lining is a light, breathable cotton. Polyester felt fills in between to create the padding. Vertical quilting secures the padding in place. Next, the jacket has long sleeves and a rounded neckline. Also, there are slits under the armpits for better mobility. The Aulber Suede Gambeson is ideal for a Renaissance faire, LARP battles, or a cosplay event.

I have several other gambesons; some to be worn mostly, or exclusively, as an outer garment (never intended to wear under plate armor and/or chainmail).
This Aulber Suede Gambeson, however, I did buy specifically for that purpose. Firstly; I was once again very pleasantly surprised at the consistent quality of Mytholon products, that’s worth noting. This thick, padded, suede gambeson is remarkably well-crafted, and it will certainly do its job! The suede-leather is thick and stout, as is the quilted inner lining. Any and all closures are era authentic; easy ties, that are simple and efficient.
The open underarm cuts allow the freedom of both arms for combat. A perfect full plate armor gambeson. Mytholon did a wonderful job producing this excellent authentic Aulber Suede Gambeson. The cost is very reasonable for the quality, the authenticity, and the unexpected really attractive handsome style, when worn as an outer-garment. This is the real-deal for you if you like to don authentic arms and armor. This is an excellent protection garment for any knight’s kit!
