Prepare for your next mission wielding the Bohi Modern Katana. This katana bears the legacy of traditional swords from Japanese history, reimagined for the modern warrior.
A Masterpiece of Design
Forged from 1566 high-carbon steel, this katana shows off a traditional craftsmanship dating back millennia. Carbon steel is renowned for its strength and durability. This katana, also known as the Japanese longsword, can be wielded with one or both hands. The sharpened blade is curved slightly like true uchigatana from feudal Japanese history. The uchigatana is another traditional term for describing a slightly curved Japanese katana. Designed for the modern samurai warrior, the blade has the iconic bohi along the blade, also known as the fuller. This fuller removes extra weight from the blade without compromising its speed or strength.
Further down, the copper habaki, or blade collar, is anchored to the guard by the copper seppa. Seppa are two small washers placed on both sides of the crossguard. The tsuba crossguard is fashioned in the maru gata style. The maru gata style means it’s designed like a circle with two perforated holes on either side of the blade.
Moving down to the hilt, the handle is made of riveted G10 plates. Those plates are textured with small, thin grooves for a secure grip. Embossed on the hilt is a silvery dragon as the menuki. Menuki refers to the decoration on the handle.
This modern silver dragon katana comes with a black fiberglass saya, also known as the scabbard. The scabbard has olive paracord sageo, referring to the cord tied around the scabbard for tying to your belt. The sageo is tied to a kurigata, known as the polymer protrusion on the scabbard. At the bottom, the scabbard has a polymer kojiri, also known as the pommel.
