As free landed knights of the Empire, these nobles possessed skill in riding and warfare and were often seen as the epitome of chivalry in late medieval Germany. This medieval knight set is inspired by the armour styles of late-15th Century Gothic and Maximilian armour patterns. Starting with the materials, each piece in this armour bundle is forged from steel. The helmet is forged from 14 gauge steel, making it durable and strong enough to protect your head from most incoming blows. The rest of the armour, from the pauldrons down to the greaves, are forged from 18 gauge steel. Please note that this armour is crafted by hand, and their thicknesses may vary slightly.
For historical authenticity, every piece of armour in this bundle is crafted to resemble real historical armour from the late medieval period. At the top, the helmet is fashioned in the bellows-face style from Germany and Northern Italy, when Northern Italian states were once a part of the Holy Roman Empire. The pauldrons are large and cover the entire shoulder with fluted wings on the back. Further down, the arm armour is fashioned with broad elbow couters for elbow protection while leaving your hands free to wear the gauntlets.
The leather patches on the upper arm armour are designed to be tied to the bottom of the pauldrons. Eyelets on top of the pauldrons are designed to be tied to the cuirass or your arming wear. At the top of the leg armour, there are more leather patches with holes designed to attach to the bottom of the cuirass or your arming wear. Please note this armour kit does not come with strings or ties.
Included in this bundle is the gothic German Cuirass, a focal point of this knight armour set. With adjustable straps across the shoulders, you can easily adjust for the ideal fit. Even better, this cuirass has an integrated waist belt. Buckle it around your waist to secure the cuirass and help distribute the weight. It is recommended that you enlist the help of a squire to put this suit of armour on.
