Straightforward in its majesty, the Monarch Medieval Sword with Scabbard and Belt is ready to take charge on the battlefield. Down to each detail, this hand forged, functional sword is designed to fall right in line with classic 13th century medieval swords.

Sword Construction:

This functional medieval sword has a straightforward, historical design that bears elegance through its simplicity and exemplary take on sword styles of the Middle Ages. The long cut-and-thrust blade has a typical narrow taper, all the better for stabbing within the holes of enemy plate armour.

Falling within a Type X Oakeshott sword classification, it also sports a fuller down most of its length, before the narrow tip. Made of 5160 high carbon steel, the sword is differentially hardened with a harder Rockwell 60 at the edge and softer Rockwell 48-50 at the core.

Then, the crossguard curves towards the blade and widens at the ends of each arm, serving as an effective, no nonsense protector of the wielders hand. The grip follows, made of leather wrapped around a wooden scale core.

This full tang medieval arming sword features a Brazil nut pommel, an iconic aspect of medieval swords of the 1200s. It also serves as counterweight to the blade. Its point of balance is 5.5 inches from the hilt. As a result, the one-handed sword swings nicely when wielded.

Scabbard Details:

The included scabbard is made of matching brown leather with steel fittings. The throat comes to a point, thus protecting the center of the guard when sheathed. Finally, an integrated leather sword belt makes it easy to carry this blade into battle or on your next medieval adventure. Set it on one of our sword display stands when not in use.

Historical Inspiration:

Drawing overall inspiration from 13th century sword styles, this functional cut-and-thrust sword would even look right at home in museums among surviving weapons of the Middle Ages. Its tapered blade shape came into fashion to combat armour developments, and the Brazil nut pommel can be seen on surviving swords of the 1200s and later. Bring the simple majesty of this battle-ready sword to your functional weapons collections and medieval reenactments.
