Step into the tumultuous Middle Ages wielding the Grosse Messer Sword. Inspired by fighting knives and blades from medieval Germany, this long messer brings the warrior heritage of the era to your arsenal.
Expert Condor Craftsmanship
Inspired by medieval history, this fully functional grosses messer sword blends the rustic charm of German-style swords with the authenticity and quality of Condor. Forged from 1075 high carbon steel, this sword has a full tang and a sharpened edge. Having a full tang means the metal blade extends into the handle as one piece, giving the weapon added strength and balance. 1075 high carbon steel means this sword is forged from a steel that contains up to 75% carbon, giving it a higher level of edge retention and toughness.
The blade has an iconic single-edged design with a fuller down the forte. The fuller removes excess weight without compromising its integrity. The sharpened blade has a slightly up-swept tip reminiscent of messer designs. Other than the tip, the blade is straight all the way down. This blade has a polished satin finish with a flat grind and a secondary bevel. When wielding this blade, you will see a nail-like protrusion located on the outside of the guard. This is called the “Nagel.” It protects the right side of the grip.
“Grosse Messer” translates to “great knife” or “large knife” in German, and this long sword is a worthy example. The hilt accommodates two-handed use for powerful swings. At the top, the steel guard resembles an S-shape, with each quillon slightly bending away from the hilt in opposite directions. Further down, the two-handed grip is made from American hickory and walnut wood. At the bottom, the blackened pommel is fashioned like a condor bird’s head.
This Condor Grosse Messer Sword comes with a scabbard. This scabbard has a wooden core, wrapped in genuine leather, and complete with steel fittings. The topmount, also known as the throat, is engraved with the Condor logo. The endmount, also known as the chape, has a swept tip to protect the tip of the blade.
