When you carry a weapon in battle you need to protect your hands from the enemy. Check out the 15th Century Milanese Mittens. Made from 16 gauge mild steel, these gauntlets come as a pair. Based on gauntlets popular in the 15th century, each one has a mitten style with a flared cuff. The flared cuff provides greater mobility without sacrificing protection of the wrist. Next, the mitten style features a main plate that covers the back of the hand while two plates protect the fingers. The two plates overlap each other. One covers the tips of the fingers while the other covers the first knuckle. There are two similar plates protecting the thumb.
The gauntlets secure to the hand with leather straps. You can wear these gauntlets with your armour ensemble. They are great for a historical reenactment. The 15th Century Milanese Mittens look wonderful at a faire or LARP event.
Please note that steel thickness may vary slightly due to the handcrafted methods used in the manufacture of this item.
