Wear the Roman Niedermoermter Helmet and journey back to the conquests of the Roman Empire. With this helmet adorning your legionary kit, you’ll strike a fearsome presence.
Historical Roman Design
Forged from 18 gauge mild steel, this Roman helmet is designed in the Niedermoermter style, named after where it was discovered. More specifically, this helmet originates from the Antonine Period, circa 2nd Century AD. This makes it perfect for Imperial Roman legionary outfits inspired by that time. Please note this helmet comes to you coated in a layer of oil to protect it from rust.
The design is heavily embellished with brass accents. At the top, it has a brass circular plate supporting a hanging ring. The dome is steel with overlaid brass embellishments. The upper brow has intricate cut-out details. On the hinged cheek plates and the back of the skull, the accents depict mice and loaves of bread from Pompeii motifs. This adds layers of historically authentic style to this Roman helmet.
On each side are sloping ear guards connected to a larger, wider sloping neck guard at the back. The bottom of the neck guard has a brass tabula ansata. The tabula ansata was a winged, rectangular tablet. This tabula ansata has a bail handle with acorn-shaped finials for versatile carrying. The neck guard has L-shaped brass accents on either side of the tabula ansata.
The inside of the helmet is blackened for added contrast and is not lined. There are four black rings inside the helmet, two on the cheek plates and two at the back sloping neck guard.
