This Medieval Cross Pendant is made from lead-free pewter and is supplied on a waxed cord. The information on the reverse of the card describes the importance of religion in ancient times and the Crusades. Religion was important to knights in the Middle Ages. Between the years 1095 AD and 1271 there were several military campaigns to recapture the Holy Land for the Church. These were called Crusades. Each crusader swore a vow, to be fulfilled on successfully reaching Jerusalem, and they were granted a cloth cross to be sewn on to their clothes.
