Historical Nordic Design

Forged from 18 gauge mild steel, this Norse helmet is designed in the iconic Spangenhelm style. The Spangenhelm saw use from the Migration Period to the early medieval period, known for its practical and stylish design. Please note this helmet comes to you coated in a layer of oil to protect it from rust.

Like its historical inspiration, this Spangenhelm is built of fitted and riveted plates of steel. At the top, the round skull has a comb-like crest of brass shield knots. The brow and the cheek plates are lined with brass serpentine knotwork accents. In front, the nasal guard has a bestial design for a fearsome appearance. Even the eyebrows above the visor are adorned with serpentine knotwork accents.

Leather lining inside the helmet makes it easier to wear and pairs nicely with your arming cap, not included. There are two brass rings, one inside each cheek plate. This helmet comes with a brown leather cord so you can tie it through the brass rings like a chinstrap.

• This armour will arrive to you covered in protective oil. While this oil can be removed, it must be replaced with another protective maintenance product to protect your steel armour from rusting. Occasional oiling is necessary for the proper maintenance of this armour. When storing this armour, protect it from oxidation by coating it with machine oil.
