A lot of people love Lord of the Rings, adults and kids alike, and for those youths who love Legolas, and his archery, still, nothing beats this Youth LOTR Legolas Style Bow, which puts an authentic looking elf bow into a young archers eager hands. The bow is made entirely from a single piece of fine red oak wood, and is solid black in color, with no other touches of paint or stain on it (save for the draw weight and length, which is hand written in silver near one of the tips). The handle is wrapped in golden cord to offer a comfortable grip, and the bow is designed to be a shoot off the hand style bow, with no real arrow rest to speak of. Included with the bow is a bow string and a bow stringer, for ease of use. The bow, being designed for children, is offered in only one draw length, of 24 inches (which should not be exceeded). Its draw weight can vary slightly, ranging between, and around 10 to 25 pounds (we send what is available, although if you desire a specific weight, you may call to find out what weights we have available). This Lord of the Rings style youth bow is a perfect way to educate your little one in the ways of archery, as well as a great hobby to instill in your child. It is a perfect bow for practice and target shooting, as well as a solid choice for any child to use in SCA events and competitions (if purchased solely for that need, make sure that the bow complies with all regulations and requirements, first).
Remember to always unstring your bow when you are not using it. Never fire the bow without an arrow, and never pull your bow back further than the max draw length (which, on this bow, is 24 inches). Store your bow horizontally, in a cool, dry place. Never store it outside. Never string your bow backwards, and do not leave it strung for overly long periods of time.
How to Tell your Draw Length and Draw Weight:
Draw Length: Your Draw Length measurement is how far you draw the bow back before releasing it. To find your draw length stand and extend both arms out in front of you, measure from your chest to the end of your middle finger and subtract two inches. This will find your approximate draw length. Please note that this bow should not be used by an archer with a draw length greater than 24 inches.
Draw Weight: This is how heavy (in pounds) you will be pulling the bow back at your specified draw length. A draw weight of 16 lbs. at a 24 inch draw length means that you, or your child, will pull back 16 pounds of force when the bow is fully drawn. This is harder to determine a starting point, but these bows, made for youths, are all designed to have a draw weight appropriate for younger archers.
