Each leg consists of two sections riveted together. The pieces that cover the knees overlap the lower sections. They have a rounded, triangular shape. I’d give them a solid 4/5. They’re great, but the lack of any shaping or embellishments does make it look like you’ve got big tube legs like the Tin Man. But that does mean there’s plenty of opportunity for customization! The greaves didn’t impede my movement much when I wore them at a faire, and were actually fantastic for helping me avoid locking my knees while standing in place. The most they caused issues was when I tried to squat down. You’ll be feeling like you’re walking very powerfully in these, as you will want to have a wide stance or else the plates that overlap your shoes will scrape against one another. The lower straps are located in the perfect spot for fitting at your ankle and around your boots, and the upper straps were just below my knee and didn’t chafe as I walked. You will want to wear boots or something if you have skinny legs so the lower straps fit securely.
