Tyr is the god of justice and right action in Norse mythology, and he is often depicted as one-handed. And this Bronze Tyr and Fenris Pendant depicts exactly why, as the course of right action demanded that Tyr sacrifice one of his hands. The story says that Fenris, wolf-son of Loki, was destined to kill Odin at Ragnarok, and that the gods, through prophecy, came to fear Fenris for this rapid growth and power. They decided to bind him, but Fenris, being wary, refused to be bound. The gods made a deal, claiming that one would lay their hand in Fenris mouth as security, and that if they did not unbind him afterwards, he would take the hand. None would volunteer, save for Tyr, who bravely laid his hand in Fenris mouth, and lost his hand when the gods refused to unbind the wolf. This pendant, crafted entirely in fine jewelers bronze metal, depicts that scene, featuring runes about the top that read as TYR OK FENRISULFR, translated as Tyr and Fenris Wolf. The pendant is offered as a pendant only, and can be combined with any cord or chain to create a great necklace. For the mythology buff, this Bronze Tyr and Fenris Pendant depicts an iconic scene of godly bravery, making it a rather awesome amulet to have, especially if you want to show off your love of Norse mythology.
