War Hammers

At the dawn of its conception, the war hammer was a totally new type of weapon, one designed to counter the improvements of armour in the late Middle Ages and beyond. And counter it, the war hammer did, and that is why Dark Knight Armoury has devoted a section to this medieval crusher, allowing the masses of modern warriors to wield such a wicked and brutal weapon. Just like modern hammers, war hammers utilize weight and momentum to deliver massive blunt force trauma to a small area, allowing them to smash, crush, and bash virtually everything in its path to smithereens. Also known as a maul, the war hammers design ensured that even if you were wearing armor, you would feel every bit of the blow delivered, essentially making this a weapon that decreased, or even negated, the effectiveness of hardened steel plate armor. Many war hammers feature a flat or textured head, allowing it to damage or puncture plate, and many more feature a spike on the reverse of the hammer head, allowing a warrior to hook his enemies or puncture plate with greater ease, making the war hammer a truly versatile and lethal weapon that more than earned its reputation on the field of battle. Even more deadly is that these mauls ranged quite a bit in size, with the smallest being the size of a mace, the largest being as big as a halberd, and variants ranging in size between these two extremes. At Dark Knight Armoury, we offer a wide selection of authentic and effective war hammers, ranging from the fully functional to the purely decorative. So if you want to hang one on your mantel and pay homage to this wicked weapon, you are more than welcome. But if you also want to smash a few targets, fight a few battles, and crush a few melons with one, well, then you can find the weapon you wish for right here as well.
