Crusader Swords and Knights Swords

The first and foremost companion of any crusader was, without a doubt, the crusade sword. After all, the Crusades were Holy Wars, and wars require weapons to be fought, and few weapons are as prolific, versatile, and effective as the sword. And at Dark Knight Armoury, we carry a huge assortment of crusader swords, so that you can arm yourself just as these ancient warriors would have. Among crusader swords, the cruciform sword and the arming sword were among the most common, and often, these two designs were incorporated into one effective blade. The cruciform shape, with straight guard quillons, was easy to manufacture yet highly effective in practice, while the arming sword, with its generally 30-inch long blade and short, one-handed grip, was easy to handle yet devastating in skilled hands, while also being light enough to allow for easy use of a second weapon or a shield. Of course, crusaders came from a wide array of backgrounds, though, and so sword styles could vary greatly, featuring all different shapes of guards, pommels, hilts, and more. Here in this section, you will find a mix of battle-ready blades made from high carbon steel, fashioned into forms that echo the look and feel of authentic crusader weapons, as well as fine display pieces that pay homage to these fearsome warriors, by emulating their style and recreating various symbols and designs there were of the utmost importance to these holy warriors. Functional swords are made from carbon steel and are designed to hold up re-enactment and training, while decorative ones are perfect for use as costume pieces for intricate crusader attires. Both, however, will serve wonderfully as authentic display pieces in your home or castle. A sword was very likely the most important possession that a crusader might own, so if you style yourself after these legendary warriors, perhaps you had best pay a visit to Dark Knight Armoury, so that you can equip yourself with an authentic crusader sword!
