Greek Shields, Greek Hoplite Shields, Ancient Greek Shields and Spartan Shields
Historically, the Greek shield was known as either an aspis or a hoplon. In many ways, it was considered to be one of the most important parts of a warriors battle-gear. This was as true for Spartans as it was for Athenians, Thebans, Trojans, and more. And now, Dark Knight Armoury offers a wide selection of Greek shields for you to choose from, to proudly display, carry, and use, as the hoplites of old would have in their battles. Originally made from wood with a layer of bronze over the face, our own Greek shields are equally well-made, with some being solid wood and others having a layered design just as the originals did. Among our Greek shields, the most striking feature is always the shields face. Sometimes classically adorned and sometimes designed with a stylized image, they are always impressive to behold. Some depict swirling spirals and deadly beasts like bulls and scorpions, while others take inspiration from myth, revealing the features of the Medusa or the Pegasus. Among their depictions, though, no design is as popular as the lambda, which was made famous by the Spartans, who proudly carried it into battle. Many are round in shape, but some are more like the crescent shaped peltas of later eras. Made from a variety of designs and materials, any one of the Greek shields you will find here at Dark Knight Armoury is an easy choice to make, as any one you chose will offer you some of the best protection you could ask for.
