Dark Knight Armoury has custom handcrafted leather leg armor for both the LARP and SCA events. Our leather leg armor consists of leather sabatons for the feet to leather cuisse or thigh armour. We have leather greaves that protect the lower part of the leg and full leg armor that protects the entire leg. Our leather leg armor is custom made to your specifications to ensure proper fit and upmost protection of the leg. Leather Cuisse and Thigh Armor A cuisse or thigh armour first appeared in the middle of the 14th century. Later in the 14th century a backplate was added enclosing the thigh entirely. In the 16th century the cuisse was made of narrow plates connected by straps making it quite flexible. Dark Knight Armoury has designed the leather cuisse designed to protect the upper part of the leg namely the thigh and in some cases the knee. The knee of the cuisse or knee cop protects the knee cap from a devastating sword blow during sword fighting or SCA reenactments. Our leather cuisse and leather thigh armour is made of 13/15 ounce armour grade leather.

Leather Full Leg Armour Dark Knight Armoury has forged together the leather cuisse, leather greaves and the leather knee cops to give you the full leather leg armour. This combination of leather leg armour provides the total protection of the leg from the thigh to the ankle. Our leather leg armour is constructed to ensure our customers are getting the protection they need and deserve. Our full leather leg armour is custom made to your measurements to ensure proper fit and is made of top grade 13/15 ounce armour leather. The standard color of our full leg armour is black but can be made to almost any color desired.

Leather Greaves Greaves are armour for the leg that is below the knee to the ankle namely the shin area. The Greeks and Romans wore bronze greaves for leg protection. Leather Greaves are the most popular form of protection for the leg, in SCA events and Live Action Roleplaying. Dark Knight Armoury has many styles of leather greaves, like studded leather greaves, plain leather greaves and berserker leather greaves. Most of our leather greaves are made of 13-15 ounce armour grade leather and are hand crafted to your specifications. Some of our leather greaves have steel plates, rings and bands of leather to provide extra protection to the leg from the sword.

Leather Sabatons Sabatons are broad toed foot armour of the middle 16th century. They only covered the upper side of the foot and were held down by straps pass under the soles. Sabatons protect the foot from being chopped off by a sword or axe during a battle. Our Leather Sabatons are the final touch to your medieval armour outfit. These leather sabatons are adjustable to fit your shoe or boot size. Leather sabatons attach over your footwear for protection during that medieval re-enactment.
